Kenya has virtually every type of climate within its borders, from the searing heat of the northern Rift Valley and tropical humidity along the coast, to colder, snowy conditions often experienced at high altitude on Mount Kenya. Its interior comprises desert, mountain, highland and savannah environments, with long, white sandy beaches fringed with tropical palms and coral reefs on the coast.

A rich cultural diversity includes over 40 different resident tribes such as the Samburu and Masai that still retain a traditional way of life. Kenya is also home to some of the most abundant and varied wildlife in the world.

Teams will attempt to summit Mt Kenya (4895m), the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro. In preparation for this trek teams will acclimatise by trekking in the Rift Valley (Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru) and Hells Gate National Park- both offering the opportunity to view Africa’s renowned animal and bird life!

Project work in Kenya is mostly community based, and teams will take part in construction and renovation projects to improve the learning conditions in primary and secondary schools.

After the trek teams will get the chance to catch the overnight train from Nairobi to Mombasa to see the coast, and there is also opportunity for challengers to go on safari and to do some white water rafting in Sagana!
