Your expedition to the Andes and the Amazon will no doubt be a magical experience, but to get the most out of your expedition it is important to follow certain health and safety guidelines.
It is advisable to seek medical advice before the expedition and obtain antimalarial medicines and yellow fever and typhoid vaccinations from your doctor. Although infection is not likely, prevention is the best course of action to ensure you enjoy your expedition as much as possible and save yourself from any unnecessary illness.
For further protection against Malaria you should ensure that there are no mosquitoes in their sleeping space and report any unusual symptoms to their Expedition Leader immediately. If you are bitten by a mosquito let your Expedition Leader know as it may be useful information later if you require treatment.

Expeditions to the Andes and the Amazon will include high altitude trekking which requires a heightened awareness of health and safety. Adhere to all health and safety instructions given to you by your Expedition Leader which is likely to include advice about where to walk on the path and how to climb steep portions of the mountain safely. Stay with the group at all times and in case of emergency follow health and safety instructions from the Expedition Leader.
Anti-altitude sickness medications can be taken to ease your trek up the Andes. It is best to consult your doctor about these medications before embarking on the expedition.
