Health and safety on expedition to Borneo
To make sure you get the most out of your expedition to Borneo it’s vital that you follow our health and safety guidelines. As with all World Challenge expeditions, we recommend that you visit your doctor for a check up 3 weeks before you embark on an expedition. The doctor will be able to advise you further on health and safety issues in this region.
Vaccinations to consider for this expedition include Hepatitus A, B and typhoid. Although infection is unlikely, prevention is the best course of action to make sure you stay healthy throughout your expedition in Borneo.
Borneo health and safety tips
To further ensure health and safety it is recommended that you only drink bottled water during your expedition. Even purified water may cause stomach upset due to the different minerals found in it to that of UK waters. It is also recommended that you do not purchase food from unlicensed street vendors.
As the Borneo expedition includes some mountain and jungle trekking, we recommend you use insect repellent on a regular basis throughout the trip and also discuss anti-altitude sickness medications with your doctor before starting the expedition. Not everybody suffers from altitude sickness but should sickness occur you need to know that you are able to take medications for it. You must stay with the group at all times and follow all instructions given by the Expedition Leaders.
