Health and safety on expedition for Tanzania
We’re certain that your time in Tanzania will be an unforgettable adventure, but to make sure you get the most out of it there are some important health and safety guidelines to follow whilst on expedition.
Approximately 3 weeks before you travel you should visit your doctor to be advised on any vaccinations or precautions you need to take. Common vaccinations to ensure health and safety in Tanzania include typhoid, yellow fever, polio and Hepatitus A. Vaccinations are available for all of these conditions and it is vital to consult your doctor before travelling and act on their advice.
Tanzania health and safety tips
Health and safety in Tanzania can be further promoted by avoiding food or drink from unlicensed establishments or street sellers. Hygiene regulations are not the same in Tanzania as they are in the UK and it is therefore important to be careful about what you eat and drink to ensure your health and safety at all times. With this in mind it is also recommended that you only drink bottled or sterilised water on this expedition.
With particular regard to safety you should not part from the group unless given expressed permission from the Expedition Leader. Just like every other destination in the world Tanzania has its opportunistic criminals who profit from tourists and to avoid any unnecessary risk or altercation it is best to stay with the group when exploring the region.
Health and safety is of the utmost importance to World Challenge and consequently all Expedition Leaders are given full training on how to keep expedition members safe at all points during the expedition. You can facilitate the health and safety of you and your group by following all of the instructions given to you by your Expedition Leader.
