Expedition health and safety is of utmost importance to World Challenge and great care is taken to ensure the health and safety of all expeditions members at all times. Take a look at this page for our responsibility to you on expedition.
There are of course some things that you can do to ensure that you stay safe whilst you’re travelling. To help you prepare for your expedition and to get you thinking about expedition safety, we’ve outlined some of these things below.
Health and safety advice will be destination dependant
Expedition health and safety advice will vary depending on your destination but there are always a few basic things you should find out regardless of where you are going. For example, do you need any vaccinations? Is it safe to drink the water? Are there any insects that may carry diseases that you should be aware of and are there any foods you should avoid?
By finding out the answers to these basic questions you could be saving yourself a lot of problems on your expedition. We’ve created a page on expedition health and safety advice for each of our destinations to give you a better idea of what health and safety factors there are to consider.
In addition to reading through our expedition health and safety advice you could also consult your doctor. The earlier you consult them about your trip the better as it will leave you plenty of time to discuss the various health and safety aspects with them and it will give them plenty of time to prepare for any vaccinations and malaria medication you may need. It is recommended that you visit your doctor 3 to 4 weeks before they are due to go on expedition.
