Expedition Training
Training for Challengers going on a 3 to 4 week expedition...
Challengers going on a 3 or 4 week expedition will attend a two day overseas training expedition at either our Leadership and Development centre in Buxton, Derbyshire or at Epping Forest in North London.
The Expedition Training course is designed to prepare Challengers for expedition life, and to learn and practice the practical skills needed on expedition which includes:
- World Challenge leadership systems
- Packing a rucksack
- Health and hygiene
- Cooking dehydrated food / use of cookers
- River crossings
- Camp craft
Each training expedition is led by an experienced and fully qualified instructor, who is happy to answer any questions about expedition life. Other members of staff are also on hand throughout the course to answer any questions about administration or specific country information.
The training expedition is also a great opportunity to meet your teammates on your expedition and share experiences of the programme so far.
Training for Challengers going on a 1 to 2 week expedition...
Challengers going on a 1 or 2 week expedition will attend a 1-day Information Meeting at our office in High Wycombe. This meeting will be a chance for Challengers to meet their expedition team and for both Challengers and parents to learn about the expedition itinerary and destination. The afternoon will be an opportunity for all the team to learn key expedition skills and discuss expedition life, as well as get to know each other!
