Madagascar expedition
| The unchartered and isolated island of Madagascar has been described as a ‘living museum’ or ‘lost Eden’; over 80% of its flora and fauna is unique to the country, making it a biologist’s paradise. The culture is a rich and fascinating blend of South East Asian and East African influences, and the lively and colourful Malagasy people form as interesting a back drop as the spectacular geography and wildlife. Teams will have the opportunity to trek from village to village in the highlands around Fianarantsoa as well as explore Andasibe-Mantadia National Park which is the home of Madagascar’s largest lemur. Madagascar’s varied terrain, especially in central southern Madagascar, make this expedition a great opportunity to do something different and get off the beaten track. |

Project work in Madagascar gives the teams an exciting opportunity to work alongside local charities and learn about the Malagasy way of life. Challengers often find this part of the expedition the most rewarding as they connect deeply with people they wouldn’t even have the chance to meet under normal everyday circumstances.
Largely untouched by tourists, Madagascar does not have the same infrastructure as other developing countries making it all the more challenging and exciting as an expedition destination!
