To achieve the highest level Duke of Edinburgh Award, World Challenge has specifically identified our Namibia expedition to meet the Duke of Edinburgh qualifying criteria. 

To participate in a Gold Award, Challengers must be over 16. As well as the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition, the Award is made up of Volunteering, Physical, Residential and Skills sections. Young people can either work their way up from the Silver Award, or can come straight into Gold by following Duke of Edinburgh criteria.  

Successful completion of a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition will provide a boost to CVs and university applications. Involvement in these challenging adventures demonstrates to employers and universities that a young person is enthusiastic, hard working and able to face challenges. 

The skills learnt during the programme include team work, taking responsibility and the ability to adapt to new situations while working towards a defined goal. The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expeditions are also a lot of fun and students form lifelong friendships with those they meet along the way.

Over 5000 young people every year benefit from the support and security of a World Challenge Expedition. With over 20 years’ experience of organising school travel it means that young people and teachers taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition with World Challenge benefit from outstanding levels of safety and service while having an extraordinary adventure. This truly is a challenge and will be very different to the expeditions and residential phases conducted by most Award participants.
