Acclimatisation phase
Several short day treks out of Manali can be done to acclimatise before the main trekking phase.
Main trekking phase
There are a few treks to choose from on the Himalaya expedition. You wont be trekking each of the following routes but they are all possible options.
Zanskar Valley trek: A trek into the heart of the Zanskar Valley. In this 15 day trek you’ll travel over the major passes of up to 5000m. You’ll have the chance to visit Buddhist ‘gompas’ (monasteries) that you pass on the way.
Barabanghal trek: This is a physically demanding 14 day trek in the remote and beautiful area from Manali to Dharamsala, the home of the Dalai Lama. The trek traverses two main passes, the highest of which reaches about 4850m, where you’re likely to trek on the snowy terrain!
Hampta Pass and Chandratal trek: Another 14 day trek from Manali over the Hampta Pass at 4600m and up via the lake of Chandratal (Moon Lake) at 4800m. The trek finishes at the Baralarcha Pass at 5100m where the team will travel back via Darcha village.
Kaza Kafnu trek: A 12 day trek starting from the barren, dramatic Spiti valley and over a pass of 4900m, past Buddhist monasteries perched on rocks, ending up descending into lush Kafnu and onto Shimla.

Spiti trek: A 13 day tough trek that will reach its peak at the Pin Parbati Pass at 5200m before descending again into the remote moonscape of the Pin River valley and finishing in the Spiti valley.
Brighu Lake, Deo Tibba, Naggar-Manikaran: These are 6-day treks out of Manali heading either up to Brighu Lake, to and from the base of Deo Tibba or from Naggar to Manikaran. Teams can choose to complete two of these treks.
Project work phase
Teams carry out project work in local villages. Usually in the form of maintenance work in schools, painting murals, fixing the buildings or general odd jobs with plenty of opportunity for interaction with local villagers and children.
Rest and relaxation phase
Depending on the progress of the trek, the last days in India can be spent seeing some of its tourist attractions such as the old hill station of Shimla and other local places of interest. Few people visit India without going to see the Red Fort in Delhi and the magnificent Taj Mahal in Agra.
